SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team opened MWLC play with a Wednesday-night bout against Northwestern (Minn.) at Klas Field. The Pipers swept the season series over the Eagles with a 10-5 victory in the precipitation. The game was called with 10:06 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Hamline improves to 2-6, 1-0 MWLC, while Northwestern (Minn.) falls to 3-5, 1-1 MWLC.

The Pipers, who never trailed in the contest, were led by Taryn Leonard and Molly Garin's three goals a piece. Garin also came up big defensively with a team-leading three caused turnovers. Maria Lewis contributed a pair of goals for the Pipers, while Maitland Luksan and Analisa Aragon each netted one. Lewis led the way with four draw controls, while Aragon tied for a team-leading three caused turnovers.
Each team committed two yellow cards in the contest.
Northwestern outshot Hamline 18-14, but it was Hamline goalie Justine Case who stopped seven shots. Brittany Clark made three saves between the pipes for the Eagles.
The Pipers will return to action on Sunday, April 10 at Klas Field against Lake Forest at 12 p.m. for Native Lacrosse Appreciation Day.
