SUPERIOR, WIS.—The Hamline University women's volleyball team made the two-hour trek northbound on I-35 for a Wednesday-night bout at UW-Superior, where they dropped a 3-0 (25-12, 25-18. 25-22) decision.
The Pipers fall to 1-8, while the Yellowjackets improve to 3-6.

Julianna Boyum and Kennedy Tutak each chipped in a team-leading eight kills for the Pipers, who hit .119 as a team in the match. Faith Johnson wasn't far behind with seven kills along with 10 digs. Jenna Rubbelke came through with a game-high 17 digs, and did her best to tame a Yellowjacket offense that hit .209 in the match. Kaylin Plautz had a lot to do with that as she tallied a .375 hitting mark en route to a game-high 10 kills for UW-Superior.
Kaitlyn Kotek registered 27 assists for the Pipers.
Hamline will travel to UW-La Crosse on Saturday, September 17, where they'll face Edgewood at 3 p.m., and the host Eagles at 5 p.m.
