Knights Blank Pipers in MIAC Opener

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's tennis team opened MIAC play with a Sunday-afternoon match against Carleton at Washington Tech High School, where they dropped a 9-0 decision.

"Carleton is still one of the top teams in our conference," said Hamline head tennis coach Spencer Jones. "We will continue to work hard and close the gap."

The Pipers fall to 2-2, 0-1 MIAC, while the Knights improve 1-0, 1-0 MIAC.

The most competitive doubles match occurred at the No. 2 spot, where Sam Thompson/Sean Le dropped an 8-6 heartbreaker. The singles portion was highlighted by Isaac Hultberg's 7-5, 6-3 nail-biting loss at No. 2.

The Pipers will compete at the ITA Midwest Regional in St. Peter, Minnesota on September 30-October 2.
