SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's soccer team opened the home portion of their 2022 schedule against Bethany Lutheran on Saturday afternoon. The Pipers set the tone with a 1-0 lead behind Robert Cooper's goal in the 21st minute. It was the ignition Bethany Lutheran needed as they out shot Hamline 13-3 from that point forward, which resulted in a pair of goals en route to a 2-1 decision.
The Pipers fall to 0-2, while the Vikings improve to 2-0.

Kaleb Hoye set up Robert Cooper's tally in the 21st minute, which gave Hamline a 1-0 edge. The Vikings weathered the storm behind tallies from Liam Peterson in the 29th minute, and Cameron Brookfield's score in the 69th minute that gave them a 2-1 victory over the Pipers.
Bethany Lutheran outshot Hamline 16-6. Three yellow cards were called in the contest, one of them was assessed to Hamline.
Luke Rimington made three saves in a complete-game goalkeeping effort for the Pipers, while Francisco Vilarihno didn't record a stop in the win for Bethany Lutheran.
The Pipers will host Crown on Tuesday, September 6 at 4 p.m.
