MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.—The Hamline University women's volleyball team's first road MIAC bout pitted them at No. 16 Augsburg on Friday night. The nationally ranked Auggies cruised to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-13) victory over the Pipers.
Hamline falls to 2-15, 0-2 MIAC, while Augsburg improves to 13-1, 3-0 MIAC.
Augsburg 3, Hamline 0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-13)
After a 25-13Â loss in set one, the Pipers displayed flashes of potential early in set two, where they jumped to an 8-3 lead thanks to five Auggie errors. Augsburg weathered the storm with a 15-3 run generated by four kills from Bri Van Well, and three aces courtesy of Torrie Rehder that gave them an 18-11 lead. The Auggies didn't trail in the match again as they held on for a 25-18 win in set two, followed by a 25-13 decision in set three to secure a 3-0 match win.
Riley Melby led Hamline with eight kills, while Jenna Rubbelke paced the defense with 13 digs. Kaitlyn Kotek notched 13 assists for the Pipers.
Van Well led Augsburg with 11 kills, while Mikayla Coops set her up with 39 assists.
The Pipers will host Crown at Hutton Arena on Wednesday, October 5 at 7 p.m.
