Pipers Tie Game Late, But Fall in Overtime to Saints

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's hockey team hosted St. Scholastica in the back-end of a home-and-home series at Tria Rink on Saturday night. Brandon Bissett's goal with :31 left in regulation knotted things at 3-3, but St. Scholastica capitalized :19 into overtime courtesy of Nathan Adrian en route to a 4-3 (OT) decision over the Pipers.

Hamline falls to 9-9-1, 2-8-0 MIAC, while St. Scholastica remains undefeated in conference play with a 12-5-2, 9-0-1 MIAC mark.

St. Scholastica 4, Hamline 3 (OT)

Both teams skated to a scoreless draw after the first intermission. The Pipers never led in the game, but managed to outscore the Saints 2-1 in the third period after they were on the wrong side of that margin in the second frame. Hamline put the finishing touches to their stellar third period with the extra attacker, as they pulled goaltender Kevin Lake at the 18:44 mark. Brandon Bissett capitalized on that with a goal at 19:21 off a feed from Sam Dabrowski and Jordon Halverson, which knotted the score 3-3.

The Pipers couldn't attain that momentum in overtime, as a costly turnover paved the way for Nathan Adrian's goal 0:19 into the frame that lifted them to a 4-3 (OT) victory.

Carson Simon and Ryan Brandt also scored goals for the Pipers, while Scott Moyer and Andrew Erwin tallied assists. Hamline out shot St. Scholastica 41-30.

Kevin Lake made 26 saves in net for Hamline, while Saints goaltender Jack Bostedt stopped 38 shots.

The Pipers will host Gustavus Adolphus at Tria Rink on Friday, February 3 at 7 p.m.
