WINONA MINN.—The Hamline University men's basketball team braved the heavy winter conditions on their two-hour trip to Saint Mary's (Minn) on Wednesday evening. Raheem Anthony's 23 points and 15 boards powered the Cardinals to an 81-72 victory over the Pipers.
Hamline falls to 7-4, 3-3 MIAC, while Saint Mary's (Minn.) improves to 6-5, 2-4 MIAC.

Daniel McCarrell's back-to-back three pointers gave Hamline their first lead of the game at 41-38 with 0:39 left in the opening frame. Raheem Anthony closed things with a layup at the buzzer for the Cardinals to get them within one point of the Pipers at 41-40.
Hamline grew that advantage to as large as eight at 57-49 behind Bradley Cimperman's jumper with 13:07 left in the second half. The Cardinals responded with a 13-2 run that gave them the lead for good at 62-59 with 7:42 remaining, and would sink all six free throws within the final minute to lock an 81-72 victory.
McCarrell led all scorers with 26 points off four 3-point baskets, while Austin Holt's seventh double double of the season consisted of 18 points and 14 boards. Cimperman came through with 16 points and three assists.
Breyton Buysman led Saint Mary's (Minn.) with 25 points.
The Pipers will travel to Augsburg on Saturday, January 7 for a 1 p.m. game.
