Pipers Capitalize With Home Victory Over Falcons

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's tennis team hosted UW-River Falls at Washington Tech School on Sunday. The Pipers prevailed with their second-straight win with a 6-3 decision over the Falcons.

Hamline improves to 2-2, while UW-River Falls drops to 0-7.

"Great win outdoors in the heat for the Piper women today," said Pipers head tennis coach Spencer Jones. "Special shout out to Elizabeth Dimian, who got her first collegiate singles victory at the No. 6 position. That singles win gave the rest of our squad a ton of momentum as they battled through the heat and a tough opponent today."

Hamline 6, UW-River Falls 3

Hamline concluded doubles with a 2-1 lead behind victories from Natalie Randall/Christine Muller 8-2 at the No. 1 spot, and Sydney Hubbard/Vanessa Pham 8-1 at the No. 3 position.

Two-of-three singles matches that went to an extra set went in favor of Hamline, kick-started by Elizabeth Dimian's 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 triumph at No. 6. The No. 1 singles spot resulted in a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 victory for Chloe Reyes, while Ashley Pitzen dropped a 6-3, 5-7, 0-1 heartbreaker at No. 2. Lynn Nguyen registered a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 4, followed by Elanna Kohner's 6-4, 6-4 victory in the No. 5 spot.

Hamline will host St. Olaf at Washington Tech School on Saturday, October 14 at 11 a.m.
