SAINT PAUL, MINN - The Hamline University women's volleyball welcomed Saint Benedict to Hutton Arena for a Friday night MIAC game. It was a tightly contested battle with each team taking two sets, forcing a fifth set decider. The Bennies took the final set 15-10, and the match.Â

Hamline falls to 4-14, 0-7 in conference play, while Saint Benedict improves to 14-5, 6-0 in the MIAC.Â

The Bennies opened up the game winning the first by a convincing score of 25-19. The Pipers then answered the call by winning the second set, 25-18. Then in the third set the Pipes did it again, winning it 25-22. In the fourth, the Bennies fought back by taking it, 25-21, forcing it to a final set. The Pipers got out to a hot start, St. Ben's battled back to win 15-10.Â

Elizabeth Lopata led the way for the Pipers with 9 kills,
Lindsay Eckelman and
Lauren Wilborn were shortly behind her with 8 each.
Eckelman also had a team high in blocks, with 10.
Kaitlyn Kotek led the charge tonight with 31 assists.
Jenna Rubbelke did what she does best, leading the team with 32 digs.Â

The Pipers travel to Carleton tomorrow for a Saturday night, MIAC game at 7 p.m.Â
