SAINT PAUL, MINN - The Hamline University men's tennis team hosted St. Scholastica at InnerCity Tennis for a conference battle. The Pipers lost in a close match after getting out to a hot start sweeping all the doubles. The Saints took the match by the score of 6-3.Â

Hamline falls to 1-2, 0-2 in MIAC play, while St. Scholastica improves to 1-1, 1-1 in the conference.Â

The Pipers got out to a hot start by winning all three doubles matches. Seniors
Elijah Krause and
Isaac Hultberg won a thrilling one doubles match in a tiebreak 8-7(13-11). At two doubles
Rumeal Setts and
Tyler Rousslang won by a convincing score of 8-3. The new doubles pairing, junior
Surprise Taylor and freshman
Keegan Terrone had a great debut winning 8-6 at three doubles.Â

Singles went the opposite way for the Pipers. The Saints came up clutch winning all six of the singles matches, leading them to victory. Setts played one singles for the Pipers, losing in three sets to the Saints, Jonas Ableda (6-2, 4-6, 8-10). Hultberg, Rousslang, and Taylor all lost in straight sets at two, three, and four singles for the Pipes. Krause lost a heartbreaker to St. Scholastica's five singles, Carter Anderson (6-2, 3-6, 9-11). Terrone fell in a six singles battle to the Saints senior, Reece Patten (3-6, 2-6).
