SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's soccer team made the short trip down Snelling Avenue to face Macalester on Saturday afternoon. Luke Rimington tied for a career-high 11 saves in net for the Pipers, but didn't get enough help offensively in a 3-1 loss to the Scots.
Hamline falls to 6-6-2, 2-5-2 MIAC, while Macalester improves to 9-2-4, 4-2-2 MIAC.
Macalester 3, Hamline 1
Hans Haenicke had a hand in Macalester's first two goals of the game. He gave the Scots a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute, when he fired a shot from 10 yard out that went between Rimington's legs. Haenicke was credited an assist on Chris Frantz's goal in the 55th minute that widened the Scots' lead to 2-0.
Both teams would trade penalty-kick goals courtesy of Hamline's Jessie Juarez in the 77th minute that narrowed the score to 2-1, and Macalester's Elijah Edelman in the 84th minute that pushed the margin to 3-1.
Macalester out shot Hamline 33-2. Scots goalkeeper Sam Price didn't record a save in the complete-game victory.
The Pipers will travel to Beloit on Tuesday, October 24 for a 4 p.m. match.
