Pipers Continue Winning Ways With Sweep of Yellowjackets

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's volleyball team picked up their second-consecutive sweep with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-23) victory over UW-Superior at Hutton Arena on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pipers improve to 6-14, and match their win total from last season. The Yellowjackets fall to 15-9.

Hamline 3, UW-Superior 0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-23)

Jenna Rubbelke, who entered Tuesday ranked seventh in NCAA Division III with 6.06 digs per set, tied for a single-match school record 30 digs among three-set matches. She now owns single-match digs school records in three (30 digs), four (43 digs), and five-set matches (48 digs).

The Pipers finished the match with 82 digs, the most in a three-set match since October 11, 2019, a 3-0 loss to St. Scholastica. 

Their stingy defense held the opposition to under .100 hitting for the third time this season, as the Yellowjackets mustered a .079 mark. Hamline's offense notched a .224 hitting percentage, led by Elizabeth Lopata's team-leading 12 kills along with a .229 figure. 

Lauren Wilborn had 20 digs and five kills, while Kaitlyn Kotek registered 32 assists and 12 digs. Kennedy Tutak led Hamline at the net with two solo blocks, followed by three assisted blocks from Lindsay Eckelman.

The Pipers will host Macalester in their Code Red Game on Friday, October 27 at 7 p.m.
