STORM LAKE, IOWA.—The Hamline University men's soccer team traveled to Buena Vista on Thursday to finish their match from September 3 at Pat Paterson Field, where they held a 1-0 lead until extreme heat suspended the match with 20:01 left in the first half. The Pipers added five more goals to secure their fourth shutout of the season by a score of 6-0 over the Beavers.
Hamline improves to 8-6-2, the most wins they've achieved in a season since 2017, when they finished 12-6-1. Thursday's result is the Pipers' largest margin of victory since an 8-0 decision over Bethany Lutheran on September 19, 2016.

Jared Garcia, Ryder Tomlinson Sterud, James Sondo, Kaleb Hoye, Seth Hardesty, and Ashton Frost made up the six individuals who contributed a goal for the Pipers. Four of those goals occurred in the first half, where Hamline dominated Buena Vista in shots by a 12-4 clip.Â
The Beavers weathered the storm with an 8-4 shots advantage over the final 45:00, but couldn't find the back of the net in a 6-0 loss.

Ethan Schauer made two saves over 58 minutes of play in net for the Pipers. Luke Rimington and Durham Welch also saw playing time in goal. Beavers goalkeeper Cody Fuller stopped six shots throughout 45:00, before Zachary Sigler recorded one save in the second half.
The Pipers will conclude their 2023 season at Saint Mary's (Minn.) on Saturday, October 28 at 1 p.m.
