Pipers Hang On For 1-0 Victory Over Royals

ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Hamline University men's soccer team picked up their first MIAC win of the 2023 season with a 1-0 decision at Bethel on Wednesday afternoon.

The Pipers improve to 5-2-2, 1-2-2 MIAC, and match their win total from last season. The Royals fall to 3-4-1, 1-3-1 MIAC.

Hamline 1, Bethel 0

Bethel finished the game with a 14-9 shots advantage, but Hamline managed to match them in that category in the first half 6-6. It took just one of those shots to seal the victory for Hamline, as Nate Vogel's second goal of the season in the 12th minute made the score 1-0. Jessie Juarez was credited an assist on Vogel's goal.

The Royals were victim of both yellow cards called in the contest. Jordan Ross tallied a game-high seven shots for Bethel, while Ryder Tomlinson Sterud paced Hamline with three.

Goalkeepers Luke Rimington (Hamline) and Juan Cortes Valdivia (Bethel) each registered three saves.

The Pipers will host St. Olaf at Pat Paterson Field on Saturday, October 7 at 1 p.m.
