SAINT PAUL, MINN - The Hamline University men's soccer team welcomed St. Olaf for a Saturday-afternoon conference game at Pat Paterson Field. The Oliver brothers matchup against each other for the first time as head coaches, ending in a win for Justin and the Oles 2-0. St. Olaf has a tough relentless squad resulting in a victory over the thriving Pipers.Â

Hamline drops to 5-3-2, 1-3-2 in conference play, while St. Olaf improves to 7-3-1, 4-0-1 in MIAC competition.Â

The Pipers went back-and-forth with the Oles in the first half until the 43rd minute with the Pipers conceded an own goal. They went into halftime with a 1-0 deficit hoping to tie it up in the second half. Hamline stayed within striking distance throughout most of the game until Shea Bechtel scored in the 79th minute making the score 2-0 with 10 minutes remaining. The Pipers gave themselves chances throughout the game, but the Oles' tough defense gave up no goals this afternoon.Â

Luke Rimington stood out for the Pipers today with six saves while his counterpart Peter Foreseth had two. Rimington had two awesome saves early in the second half giving his team a chance to tie the game. St. Olaf kept the Pipers defense on their heels outshooting Hamline 26-3 in this contest.Â
