SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University football team hosted Augsburg for the 83rd Annual Hammer Game on Saturday afternoon. The Auggies claimed their fourth-straight Hammer with a 41-7 decision over the Pipers.
Hamline falls to 2-3, 0-3 MIAC, while Augsburg improves to 4-1, 2-1 MIAC. The Pipers lead the all-time series with the Auggies 44-37-2.

Auggies wide receiver Braden Tretter had a monster game with eight catches for 114 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those touchdowns gave Augsburg a 13-0 lead with 4:55 left in the first quarter behind receptions from 10, and 47 yards out.
The opening series of the second frame saw the Pipers turn the ball over on downs, but got the ball back at Augsburg's seven yard line on their next drive thanks to Braydon Griswold's blocked punt. It took just one play to find the end zone, as Pipers quarterback Alejandro Villanueva found Alec Ralph for a seven-yard touchdown pass that narrowed their deficit to 13-7 with 10:36 on the clock. That was Hamline's lone score, as Augsburg closed the game with 28 unanswered points to secure a 41-7 victory.
Villanueva went 15-of-31 for 107 yards and one touchdown. Nicholas Vasko registered 77 yards on 10 carries for the Pipers, while Charlie Wilson led the receivers with five grabs for 34 yards.
Augsburg quarterback Cade Sheehan turned in a stellar performance with a 20-for-28 outing that accumulated in 227 yards and five touchdowns.
Jevon Jones paced the Hamline defense with 10 tackles and a pass breakup. Sandoval recorded nine tackles, and one pass breakup. Juan Bertaud had a pair of breakups.
The Pipers will travel to Concordia (Minn.) on Saturday, October 14 for a 1 p.m. game.
