SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's basketball team hosted St. Olaf in a Wednesday-night bout at Hutton Arena. The Pipers had a chance to tie things up or seal a victory with possession over the final 00:14 of regulation, but came up short in a 73-71 loss to the Oles.
Hamline falls to 3-3, 2-2 MIAC, while St. Olaf improves to 3-5, 2-3 MIAC.

Both teams managed to shoot above .500 in a game that resulted in a whopping 14 tied scores and 11 lead changes. Things were tied 71-71 within the final minute of regulation down to 00:14 remaining, when Brendan Kauls put home a layup that gave St. Olaf a 73-71 lead. Hamline brought the clock down to barely over a second left, when they called a timeout to set up their final shot. Brendan Ebel inbounded a pass to Austin Holt, who attempted a layup at the buzzer that didn't go through.

Bradley Cimperman had a team-leading 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting for a Pipers team that finished with a .509 (27-of-53) field goal percentage. Austin Holt had 17 points and three assists, followed by 11 from Mick Wherley. The rebounding efforts were led by Sam Hoffman's team-leading seven, while his 10 points rounded out the Pipers in double figures.
St. Olaf, who shot .519 (28-of-54), were led by Kobe Kirk's game-high 20 points.
The Pipers will travel to Concordia (Minn.) on Saturday, December 9 for a 3 p.m. game.
