MOORHEAD, MINN.—The Hamline University men's basketball team made the 250-mile trip northwest to Concordia (Minn.) for a Saturday-afternoon showdown. The Pipers picked up their first victory over the Cobbers in two years by a 66-56 decision.
Hamline, who snapped a two-game losing skid, improve to 4-3, 3-2 MIAC. Concordia drops to 7-2, 3-2 MIAC.

Despite shooting just .200 (3-of-15) from beyond the arch, the Pipers prevailed with an impressive .479 (23-of-48) field goal percentage. Two of those three-pointers came from Mick Wherley, who made sure Hamline didn't trail again in the game off his layup that put his team in front 8-7 with 11:33 left in the opening half. However, the Cobbers managed to tie the game four more times, which included a 48-48 score with 6:20 remaining in the second half.
Austin Holt, who nailed 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch, scored seven points in Hamline's 18-8 run that iced them a 66-56 victory over Concordia.
Holt finished with a game-high 24 points, nine rebounds, and two assists for the Pipers. His performance was highlighted by a 9-of-10 mark from the charity stripe. Wherley added 15 points, while Daniel McCarrell was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field en route to 12 points.
Rowan Nelson paced Concordia with 19 points.
The Pipers will host UW-River Falls at Hutton Arena on Saturday, December 16 at 3 p.m.
