MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team opened their 2023 season with a neutral-site bout against Carroll (Wis.) at the Augsburg Dome on Saturday night. The Pipers won the draw control battle, but couldn't prevail in the score column as they dropped a 10-4 decision to the Pioneers. It marked the Pipers' first game under new head coach Adam Dobis.
Hamline begins their season 0-1, while Carroll (Wis.) jumps to 1-0.

Courtney Parker and Nicole Phillips each registered trio of draw controls for a Hamline team that held a 10-8 advantage in that department. The opening frame resulted in an 8-0 shots advantage for Carroll (Wis.) which paved the way for their 6-0 lead through 15:00 of play. The Pipers weathered the storm throughout the final three quarters, as the Pioneers held a slim 15-14 lead in shots. It resulted in four goals for each team over that 45:00 span.
Maitland Luksan notched a pair of goals and an assist for Hamline. Taryn Leonard and Lily Uhl each had a goal, while Parker picked up her first collegiate point off an assist. Leonard added two caused turnovers to her stat line, while Kendra Haselow led the way with five ground balls.
Carroll out shot Hamline 23-14. Clara Jelacic notched a game-high four goals and five caused turnovers for the Pioneers.
Justine Case made nine saves in net for Hamline. Rebecca McDaniel stopped five shots over the first three quarters between the pipes for Carroll, before Alicia Van dale stopped one shot over the final 15:00.
The Pipers will face UW-Stout at the University of Minnesota Rec Sports Dome on Saturday, March 4 at 12 p.m.
