Pipers Notch First MIAC Win of the Season Over Cobbers

ROGERS, MINN.—The Hamline University men's tennis team came through with their first MIAC win of the season in a 6-3 decision over Concordia (Minn.) at the Rogers Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Pipers improve to 8-4, 1-3 MIAC, while the Cobbers fall to 2-8, 2-5 MIAC.

"Solid 6–3 win for the men today against a much-improved Concordia squad," said Pipers head tennis coach Spencer Jones. "We had a great crowd at Rogers Tennis Center, and the match was highlighted by two wins from Surprise Taylor and Zach Irrthum. Great sportsmanship and tennis across the board today."

Hamline 6, Concordia 3

The bottom of the doubles and singles lineups prevailed for Hamline. Surprise Taylor/Zach Irrthum started the day with an 8-2 domination at No. 3 doubles. Sean Le/Sam Thompson registered an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.

The final four singles matches went in Hamline's favor, led by Sean Le's 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5. Irrthum was victorious 6-0, 6-4 at No. 6, while Taylor notched a 6-2, 6-3 domination in No. 4. Freshman Tyler Rousslang came through at No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph.

The Pipers will host Martin Luther at InnerCity Tennis in Minneapolis on Tuesday, March 28 at 3 p.m.
