The 29th minute saw Ryder Tomlinson Sterud squib a corner-kick pass to Jessie Juarez to the right of the goal. Juarez passed the ball back to Tomlinson Sterud, who set up Nate Vogel's one-timer off his left leg that gave Hamline a 1-0 lead.

Saint John's responded with three unanswered goals in the second half despite being out shot 10-8 in the frame. The comeback began courtesy of McKaid Schotzko's goal off Will Falkman's corner kick that knotted the score at 1-1 in the 49th minute. Alex Bowman gave the Johnnies a 2-1 lead in the 52nd minute, when he took a pass from Carter Hermanson, split the Hamline defense, and fired a shot from 15 yards out to the back of the net. Andrew Pitzner iced the game with his second goal of the season in the 68th minute, which widened Saint John's lead to 3-1.

The Johnnies were victim of five-of-seven cautions, two of which came from Will Falkman.

Ethan Schauer made three saves in net for the Pipers, while Evan Siefken prevailed with 10 stops between the pipes for the Johnnies.

Hamline will return to action on Saturday, September 23, when they'll host Gustavus Adolphus at 1 p.m.
