Pipers Prevail With a 3-3 Tie Against No. 16 Gusties

SAINT PAUL, MINN - The Hamline University men's soccer team welcomed No. 16 Gustavus Adolphus to Pat Patterson Field for a Saturday-afternoon MIAC game. The Gusties and Pipers battled to a 3-3 tie.
 
Hamline moves to 4-2-1, 0-2-1 in MIAC play, while Gustavus moves to 3-1-3, 1-1-1 in conference.

The Pipers started out the game down 1-0 in the 29th minute courtesy of Raphael Cattelin, but quickly answered with a penalty-kick goal from Jessie Juarez in the 31st minute that tied the score 1-1. That was Juarez's first-of-three goals for the day. In the 35th minute, Jessie added another goal to make the score 2-1, as Jonathan Beyer assisted on the score. Juarez came out in the second half with his third goal in the 62nd minute to widen the margin to 3-1.

The Gusties tied the game 3-3 with two goals late in the game, one in the 74th minute from Alexander Krumenauer, followed by another in the 77th courtesy of Joe Flory.

Gustavus out shot Hamline 17-9 in the contest. Juarez's hat trick now gives him five goals on the season.

Pipers goalkeeper Ethan Schauer made two saves in the complete-game loss, while his counterpart Wesley Sanders stopped three shots between the pipes for the Gusties.
 
Hamline will host Concordia (Minn.) at Pat Patterson Field on Tuesday, September 26th at 4 p.m.
