Late-Game Goal Dooms Pipers

SAINT PAUL, MINN - The Hamline University women's soccer team hosted Gustavus Adolphus at Pat Patterson Field for a Saturday-afternoon MIAC game. The Pipers fell 2-1 in a tightly-contested game to the Gusties. 
 
Hamline falls to 1-5-1, 0-2-1 in MIAC play, while Gustavus moves to 4-4, 1-2 in conference.

The Pipers got their goal early from Emily Hillis in the ninth minute of the game, which made the score 1-0. Gustavus answered with a goal in the 35th minute making it a 1-1 tie going into halftime. It was a back-and-forth defensive battle for the first 30 minutes of the second half, then Gustavus took a 2-1 lead in the 81st minute courtesy of Kaitlyn Brandt. 

Gustavus out shot the Pipers 10-9. The second half resulted in a 6-3 shots advantage for the Pipers. Gustavus goaltender Katelyn Olson had four saves, while her counterpart Isabella Jensen made one stop.
 
The Pipers will host Concordia (Minn.) at Pat Patterson Field on Wednesday, September 27th at 4 p.m.
