SANTA CRUZ, CALIF.—The Hamline University women's volleyball team concluded their three-day California trip with a rare Sunday-afternoon bout at UC Santa Cruz, to whom they dropped a 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-9) decision.
Junior Lauren Wilborn was named to the 2023 Slug Fest All-Tournament Team.
The Pipers fall to 1-3, while the Banana Slugs stay undefeated at 4-0.
UC Santa Cruz 3, Hamline 0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-9)
Discipline carried UC Santa Cruz to victory as they committed just 16 errors, only seven of which occurred on the attack. This played a significant role in their stellar .273 hitting percentage in the contest, while the Pipers finished with a -.008 figure to go with 39 total errors.
Julianna Boyum paced Hamline with six kills, while Kaitlyn Kotek came through with 17 assists. Faith Johnson prevailed with a team-leading three service aces, and 14 digs. Jenna Rubbelke led the way with 16 digs for the Pipers.
Hamline will return to action on Wednesday, September 6, when they'll host Crown in their home opener at 7 p.m.
