SAINT PAUL, MINN. - The Hamline University women's volleyball team welcomed the Crown Polars to Hutton Arena for their home opener, a Wednesday-night non-conference match. The Pipers added to their win column with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-16) victory over the Polars.
Hamline improves to 2-3, while Crown falls to 0-5 on the season.Â
Hamline 3, Crown 0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-16)
The Pipers took an early 14-9 lead in the first, then went on a 7-0 run to make it 21-9. They won the first set by a score of 25-12. Hamline got out to a 13-6 cushion in the second set over the Polars and finished the frame 25-15. The third set was like the others, starting 9-5. The Pipers closed it out with a 25-16 victory, and start the season 1-0 in Hutton Arena.
Lindsay Eckelman and Elizabeth Lopata led the charge with 10 kills each, while Julianna Boyum was shortly behind with nine herself. Lauren Wilborn had a great night, leading the team with six aces. Jenna Rubbelke led the team with 15 digs tonight, while Kaitlyn Kotek had 35 assists.Â
The Pipers will head to UW-Stout on Wednesday, September 13th at 7pm for a non-conference match.Â
