SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's basketball team continued their dominate ways on their home court with a 77-68 victory over St. Scholastica on Wednesday night.
The Pipers, who improve to 7-6, 5-3 MIAC, own a 5-1 record at Hutton Arena this season. The Saints drop to 2-11, 1-7 MIAC.
Hamline 77, St. Scholastica 68
Hamline ran away with a 38-25 halftime lead before both teams combined to shoot .569 (29-of-51) throughout the final 20:00. Jacquez Overstreet scored 11 of his 13 points in the game's final 10 minutes, which helped St. Scholastica cut their deficit to seven points on two occasions. This included a 69-62 score with 2:26 left in the second half. Despite the Saints' strong second half, the Pipers never surrendered their lead in a 77-68 victory.
Austin Holt recorded his fifth double double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds for Hamline, while Bradley Cimperman led all scorers with 15 points. Brendan Ebel had 14 points along with three assists and two steals.Â
Hamline shot .491 (28-of-57), while St. Scholastica notched a .444 (24-of-54) mark. Tanner Thomsen led the Saints with 14 points, while Jeff Moore had a game-high four steals.
The Pipers will host Gustavus Adolphus at Hutton Arena on Saturday, January 13 at 3 p.m.
