ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—Big second-half propels the Hamline University men's basketball team to a 74-61 road victory over Bethel on Wednesday night.
The Pipers improve to 10-6, 8-3 MIAC and stretch their win streak to five games, while the Royals fall to 7-9, 4-7 MIAC.
Hamline 74, Bethel 61
Joey Kidder's 11-point first half was capped by a pair of free throws with no time on the clock, which powered Bethel to a 41-34 halftime lead. The game's lone lead change took place with 11:33 left in the second half, when Austin Holt's free throw put the Pipers in front 53-52. Hamline doubled Bethel in scoring 40-20 over the final 20:00, which secured them the 74-61 victory.
Five Pipers finished in double figures, led by Daniel McCarrell's 17 points and three assists. Bradley Cimperman was next with 13 points, followed by Austin Holt's double double 12 points, 11 boards, and two blocks. Holt converted 10-of-13 free throws.
Brendan Ebel led the way with three steals, and had 10 points along with Raoul Vaidya.
Payton Thomsen led Bethel with 14 points, while Kidder had a double double 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pipers will kick off a three-game home swing against Saint John's (Minn.) on Saturday, January 20 at 3 p.m.
