Pipers Come Up Short in Fall Finale

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's tennis team closed out their fall season with a Saturday-afternoon match against UW-Stevens Point at the Holt Courts. The Pipers swept doubles to earn the point, but couldn't keep that momentum going in a 4-3 loss to the Pointers.

"The women were great and won five-of-nine total matches but still lost 3-4," said Pipers head tennis coach Spencer Jones. "Vanessa continued her amazing streak with a dominant win at number one singles and a win at number one doubles."

The Pipers fall to 0-2, while the Pointers improve to 6-5.

The doubles sweep included a 6-3 win from Cora Andersen/Vanessa Pham at No. 1, a 6-4 decision from Lynn Nguyen/Christine Muller at No. 2, and a 6-3 victory from Elanna Kohner/Jessica Widmer at No. 3.

Pham kept the momentum going with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Anya Sugden came through with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

The Pipers will return to action in 2025. They will travel to St. Norbert on Friday, February 7.
