Pipers Shocked By Scots

SAINT PAUL, MINN.--The Hamline University men's soccer team fell to Macalester 6-0 on Saturday at Pat Paterson Field.

Hamline holds an overall record of 13-5-0, with a conference record of 4-5-0. Macalester boasts a 12-4-0 overall record and a stronger conference performance at 6-3-0.

Macalester dominated the first half with a 4-0 lead over Hamline. Cody Da opened the scoring for Macalester just 32 seconds into the game, and they continued to pressure with goals from Ondieki Maina in the 12th minute, Chris Frantz in the 21st, and Kasdan Blattman in the 28th. The Pipers struggled to gain momentum, as their few attempts on goal failed to find the target, and they also received a yellow card for a foul by Dane Hanks.

In the second half, Macalester extended their lead by scoring two goals, bringing the final score to 6-0 against the Pipers. Noah Haupt scored in the 78th minute with an assist from Grant Luce, followed by a goal from Karson Sammons in the 81st minute. Macalester dominated the offensive play with 10 shots and four corner kicks, while Hamline managed four shots. The Pipers committed eight fouls compared to Macalester's six, highlighting a physical game.

Bodean Gaustad stood out as a key player for Hamline, recording six saves over 72 minutes in goal, highlighting his significant contribution to the team's defensive efforts.

Cody Da stood out for Macalester, recording one goal, one assist, and scoring the game's opening tally. Ondieki Maina also contributed significantly with one goal and two shots on goal. Chris Frantz delivered a solid offensive effort, scoring one goal with two shots on target. Grant Luce showcased his playmaking abilities by providing two assists. Additionally, Hans Haenicke made a notable impact with one assist in the match.

The Pipers travel to first-year varsity program UW-River Falls on Wednesday, October 30 for a 7 p.m. match.
