ST. PETER, MINN.—The Hamline University men's basketball team dropped an 81-66 road decision to Gustavus Adolphus in their 2023-24 regular season finale on Saturday evening.
The Pipers fall to 15-10, 13-7 MIAC, while the Gusties improve to 15-10, 14-6 MIAC.
Next up is the 2023-24 MIAC Tournament, where No. 4 seed Hamline will host No. 5 seed Concordia (Minn.) at Hutton Arena in a first-round game on Tuesday, February 20 at 7 p.m.
Gustavus 81, Hamline 66
The driver's seat belonged to the Gusties from start-to-finish, but Hamline managed to outscore them 42-39 in the second half. That was much due to their stellar .556 (15-of-27) field goal percentage over the final 20:00, followed by subpar .320 (8-of-25) figure in the opening half.
Austin Holt paced Hamline with 21 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Daniel McCarrell tallied 12 points and two steals, followed by 10 points from Bradley Cimperman. The Pipers got six assists from Mick Wherley, which was half of the team's game total of 12.
Brady Kienitz notched a game-high 25 points for the Gusties, while Spencer Swanson had 20 points and nine rebounds.
