MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.—The Hamline University men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Bethel at InnerCity Tennis on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pipers fall to 9-5, 1-5 MIAC, while the Royals improve to 10-5, 3-1 MIAC.
"Disappointing loss against Bethel today" said Pipers head tennis coach Spencer Jones. "Keegan came through with a huge third set tiebreak win in singles, but we let second and third doubles slip away in close tiebreaks. Isaac and Rumeal battled hard against elite opponents and gave themselves great chances to win."
Bethel 8, Hamline 1
Hamline's lone victory occurred at No. 5 singles, where Keegan Terrone picked up a 6-3, 5-7, 10-8, 9-8 decision. Doubles resulted in a pair heartbreaking 8-7 losses from Rumeal Setts/Elden Lee at the No. 2 spot, and Liam Smith/Keegan Terrone at No. 3.
The Pipers will host Saint Mary's at InnerCity Tennis on Sunday, April 7 at 11:30 a.m.
