SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's soccer team is off to a 4-0 start for the second-straight season with an 8-0 trouncing of Minnesota Morris at Pat Paterson Field on Friday afternoon.
The Pipers' 4-0 record includes three shutouts. The Cougars fall to 0-3 on the season.
Hamline 8, Minnesota Morris 0
All eight Hamline goals came from freshmen, including a hat trick from Ricky Kwabena Yawson and two from Jonathan Banegas. The freshmen duo each converted a penalty kick goal.
Augustine Feika, Sylvester Doe, and Luis Mancilla also netted goals for the Pipers, who had the upper hand in shots 31-6. Jonathan Bayer contributed two assists while Ryder Tomlinson Sterud, Belal Elghorab, Brian Real Juarez, Ashton Frost, and Tenisee Doe each dished one.
Twenty-five individuals saw playing time for Hamline. Sylvester Doe and Kwabena Yawson each had five shots.
Pipers goalkeeper Bodean Gausted made two saves in his second complete-game shutout this season between the pipes, while Nick Isensee stopped seven shots over 75:28 of action for Minnesota Morris.
Hamline will travel to Buena Vista on Sunday, September 8 for a 6 p.m. match.
