M/W Swim Competes at St. Kate's Pentathlon

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The men's and women's swim and & dive teams competed at the St. Kate's pentathlon this afternoon in St. Paul. 

Men's Highlights

Jackson Ling took first in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 58.27, followed by teammate Manny Poscher in second place with a time of 59.07. 

Gus Shaffer took first in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:02.28. Shaffer also took first in the 100 IM, clocking a time of 1:01.74, and in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.43.

Poscher finished first in the 100 Free, clocking a time of 53:55. 

Women's Highlights

The women's team competed against five other teams, coming in 4th out of 6 total teams with 911.5 points. Concordia University, St. Paul won the event with a total of 6514 points. 

In the 100 Butterfly, Nicole Phillips finished 50th out of 68 total swimmers with a time of 1:14:65 to lead the Pipers. 

In the 100 Back, Ellsa Sorenson-Wagner had a top-15 finish, placing 13th in the pool of 77 swimmers with a time of 1:06.11. 

In the 100 IM, Phillips placed 44th with a time of 1:12.62 at the finish out of 69 swimmers and in placed 30th out of 65 in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:20.19. 

Sorenson-Wagner led the Pipers in the final event (100 Free) placing 23rd with a time of 1:00.10 and teammate Milla Puente Infante placed 33rd with a time of 1:01.67 out of the total 81 entrants. 

The Swim & Dive teams are back in action next Saturday at St. Ben's & St. Johns at 1 PM.
