Hamline Swim & Dive Show Resilience Against Morris, Posting 34 Season Bests

ST. PAUL, Minn. --- The Hamline University swimming and diving teams delivered an impressive showing in their dual meet against Minnesota Morris on November 1, highlighted by multiple event victories, a sweep of the men's diving events, and a combined 34 season bests — including 14 lifetime bests.

On the men's side, Kevin Bossou dominated on the boards, taking first place on both the 1-meter (348.45) and 3-meter (198.45) dives. Jackson Ling picked up another win in the 500 Freestyle (5:19.38) and added a runner-up finish in the 200 Free (1:55.79). Matias Vega (2nd, 50 Back, 29.68) and Manny Poscher (2nd, 100 Free, 53.39) each turned in strong swims, while Gus Shaffer earned season bests across multiple events, including the 500 Free (5:35.62) and 100 Back (1:01.43).

For the women, Ellsa Sorenson-Wagner led the way with a victory in the 50 Back (29.95) and anchored the Pipers' relays with consistent speed. Nicole Phillips continued her breakout season, winning the 50 Breast (35.17) and finishing second in the 200 Free (2:12.79), while Ryann Hopp (2nd, 100 Free, 1:00.10) and Bella Stadheim (2nd, 500 Free, 6:29.58; also 22:05.71 in the mile) each earned key podium finishes.

Across the roster, Pipers turned in significant time drops and lifetime bests, including standout improvements from Cori Dawson (28.84 in the 50 Free, 1:03.03 in the 100 Free), Kat Kocher (three lifetime bests across the 500 Free, 50 Breast, and 100 IM), and Vega, Ling, and Sorenson-Wagner, who each set personal marks in multiple events.
The team also saw relay growth, with Hamline's men finishing second in the 400 Medley Relay (4:23.46) and the women combining for a solid 5:09.56 effort in the same event. 

With a mix of event wins, lifetime performances, and depth across all events, the Pipers showcased their growing strength and momentum as they move further into the 2025–26 season.
