Auggies Offense Stunts Pipers

Minneapolis, Minn. — The Hamline women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 defeat against Augsburg University in a conference contest at Edor Nelson Field on Saturday night.

The Auggies' offense proved highly efficient, netting two goals in each half. The Pipers, now holding a 3-5-6 overall record and 1-4-1 in the MIAC, faced intense pressure throughout the 90 minutes.

Augsburg opened the scoring in the 35th minute courtesy of Kate Fick, and quickly doubled their lead just over five minutes later when Kaidin Camp notched her first goal of the evening at the 40:07 mark, sending the Pipers into halftime trailing 2-0.

The second half brought as many goals for the Auggies, as Kaidin Camp took control, scoring two more goals—one at the 67:54 mark and a final goal late in the match at 88:05—to complete a hat-trick and secure the 4-0 victory for the home team.

The Pipers totaled seven shots, putting five attempts on goal. Midfielders Neva Woodson and Mia Silva each tested the Augsburg goalkeeper, Claire Smothers, who recorded five total saves.

On the defensive end, the Hamline goalkeeping staff totaled five saves, attempting to stifle the powerful Auggie offense which fired 15 total shots.

The Pipers will look to reset and prepare for their next match at home on Tuesday, October 14, against Gustavus.
