Gusties Lone 2nd Half Goal Haunts Pipers

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline fell to Gustavus Adolphus 1-0 on Tuesday at Pat Paterson Field, with the lone goal being scored in the second half.
 
Hamline and Gustavus Adolphus commenced play with both teams seeking an early advantage. The Pipers initiated several attempts, including shots from Ellie Nhean and Addyson Barrett, but failed to find the target. Gustavus Adolphus responded with defensive fortitude, as Katelyn Olson made a critical save against Christin Broyles in the 29th minute. Amara Easley of Gustavus Adolphus had a notable chance at the 35th minute, hitting the right woodwork, yet the half concluded with the score tied at 0-0.
 
Gustavus Adolphus secured a lead shortly after the second half began, with Cambelle Waldspurger scoring in the 49th minute, assisted by Easley. Hamline's Nhean attempted to equalize with a shot in the 52nd minute, but it went wide. Gustavus Adolphus maintained offensive pressure, with multiple corner kicks and shots, including a saved attempt by Waldspurger in the 62nd minute. Hamline goalkeeper Maddox Fergus made several critical saves, including one against Haillee Wilson's shot in the 68th minute.

 
Fergus, in goal, recorded three saves while facing nine shots. Addy Ehler contributed one shot, which was on target, during the match. Nhean took two shots. Broyles also registered one shot on goal.

 
The Pipers will be on the road to Arden Hill, Minn. on Saturday, Oct. 18 to face the Bethel Royals at 3:30 PM.
