Pipers Can't Hold On Against Bethel

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — Hamline fell to Bethel University 3-1 on Saturday at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex, as the home team capitalized on their 7 shots on goal.

Clarence Weah scored one goal and added an assist, contributing significantly to the team's offensive efforts. Alec Setterberg recorded four saves during his 90 minutes in goal, facing 12 shots and conceding three goals. Augustine Feika attempted three shots, with one on target, applying pressure on the opponent's defense. Beniam Makonnen managed one shot, which was on goal, enhancing the team's attacking opportunities.

The first half began with the Pipers establishing defensive efforts early, with Setterberg making a key save in the 21st minute. Bethel took an early lead with a goal by Nathan Hunt in the 16th minute and extended their advantage with a score by Ryan Swanda, assisted by Jordan Ross, shortly afterward.

Hamline responded with Weah finding the back of the net in the 40th minute, narrowing the deficit before the half. The period concluded with Bethel leading 2-1.

The second half began with a decisive momentum shift when Bethel scored in the 84th minute, extending their lead to 3-1. Hamline put pressure on Bethel's defense, with Feika and Makonnen challenging the goalkeeper, but their efforts were thwarted by timely saves.
