Pipers Drop Close Contest To #4 St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Hamline fell to #4 nationally ranked St. Olaf, 1-0 on Tuesday evening. 

 
Hamline stands at 9-5-3 overall with a 1-5-2 record in conference play. St. Olaf holds a 14-1-2 overall record and remains unbeaten in the MIAC conference with a 9-0-0 mark.

 
Alec Setterberg recorded six saves in the match, playing the full 90 minutes in goal. Alexander Taylor contributed with one shot on goal, showcasing offensive potential from his defensive position. Johanso Camacho led the team with three shots. Clarence Weah also added three shots, contributing to the team's attacking efforts.

 
The opening period between Hamline and St. Olaf commenced with both teams striving to establish control. Setterberg in goal for Hamline made a crucial save against Ryan Bechtel's shot in the 28th minute, maintaining the clean sheet. Hamline's offensive efforts were highlighted by Weah, who came close to scoring twice, with one attempt striking the right woodwork in the 27th minute. The period concluded with the score level at 0-0, as neither side managed to break through offensively.

 
The second period began with the Pipers creating opportunities, as Camacho and Luis Mancilla each took shots early in the half. Weah also attempted to find the net but was unable to convert. Hamline's persistent efforts were matched by St. Olaf's defensive play.

 
As the period progressed, Setterberg made crucial saves, denying multiple attempts from St. Olaf, including shots from Jay Carroll and Dimitri Nair. Despite Hamline's defensive efforts, St. Olaf secured a goal in the 76th minute, with Bechtel scoring on an assist from Tustin Todd.

 
Hamline continued to press forward with shots from Rigo Arellano and Dane Hanks, but the team faced challenges, including a red card issued to Drew Axel, impacting their pursuit of an equalizer, ending the game in an 0-1 loss for the Pipers.
