DULUTH, Minn. — Hamline (9-1-3, 1-1-2) and the College of St. Scholastica (1-7-4, 1-3-1) battled to a 2-2 draw at Kenny Harkins Field, with both teams netting two goals in the second half.
Johanso Camacho scored one goal and recorded one shot on goal, contributing to the team's total.
Beniam Makonnen also added a goal, successfully converting his single shot attempt.
Sylvester Doe led the team in shots with six, two of which were on target.
The first half commenced with both teams displaying a balanced level of play. The Pipers'
Christopher Lopez Salvador initiated an early offensive effort, but his shot was saved by St. Scholastica's goalkeeper, Ben Hallberg.
Defensively, Hamline's Setterberg remained solid, particularly with a key save against Parker Chastey's shot. The half closed with Hamline maintaining pressure through consecutive corner kicks, yet neither side was able to convert their opportunities, leaving the score at 0-0 at the end of the first half.
The second half commenced with Hamline taking the lead through a penalty kick goal by Makonnen in the 52nd minute. St. Scholastica quickly responded, equalizing with a goal from Louis Maerker, assisted by David Lopez. The momentum briefly shifted to the home side when Vasco Carneiro scored in the 66th minute, giving St. Scholastica a 2-1 advantage.
Hamline's persistence paid off as Camacho leveled the match with a goal in the 75th minute, with
Chris Palma providing the assist. Despite several attempts, including shots from
Edgar Flores Vasquez and
Sylvester Doe, Hamline could not find a late winner, ending in a 2-2 draw.
The Pipers will be back in action next Saturday across town at Augsburg University, with a 4:30 PM game against the Auggies on Oct. 11.
