ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline University (3-4-6, 1-3-1) and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (9-3-1, 1-1-0) played to a scoreless draw at Pat Paterson Field on Wednesday.
The first half between the Pipers and UW-River Falls commenced with both teams vying for control. UW-River Falls initiated early pressure, with Lexi Atkinson's shot in the fourth minute being saved by Hamline's goalkeeper
Maddox Fergus. Despite a series of shots from UW-River Falls, including attempts by Sarah Wagner and Elizabeth Felty, Fergus maintained a solid defense. Hamline's
Addyson Barrett tested UW-River Falls' Kiera Nelson in the 20th minute, but Nelson successfully kept the match scoreless.
The second half began with both Hamline and UW-River Falls seeking to break the scoreless deadlock. UW-River Falls pressed early with shots from Emery Bigler at 47:49 and Gabby Kempf shortly after, both saved by Hamline's goalkeeper, Fergus. Hamline's
Ellie Nhean and
Christin Broyles took shots at 51:24 and 74:21. Despite opportunities, including a corner kick and another attempt by Nhean at 87:51, the Pipers could not capitalize, resulting in a scoreless draw at the end of regulation.
Fergus delivered a solid performance in goal, recording four saves. Nhean attempted two shots, contributing to the team's offensive efforts. Barrett registered two shots, with one on target.
