SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (4-1, 0-0 MIAC) secured a 60-52 victory over Luther College (4-1, 0-0 American Rivers) at Hutton Arena. The Pipers capitalized on Luther's turnovers, scoring 17 points off 14 turnovers to help seal the win.
The game began with Luther taking an early lead, as Charlie Wunderlich scored five points, including a 3-pointer, to bring the score to 8-0. Hamline responded with a 3-pointer from
Raoul Vaidya at the 17:43 mark, narrowing the gap.
Ethan Wall-Atim's layup at 15:32 brought the Pipers within two points at 11-9. The lead changed hands multiple times as both teams traded baskets, with
Brendan Ebel tying the game at 26 with a layup.
Dominic Dosmann's two free throws in the final minute secured Hamline a narrow 31-28 lead at the end of the first half.
The second half saw a tense battle as the Pipers and Luther traded leads. Luther's Henry Kreckman scored early with a layup at the 19:20 mark, momentarily putting his team ahead. Vaidya responded with a jumper and later energized the home crowd with a 3-pointer at 9:23, regaining the lead. As the half progressed, Hamline's defense, highlighted by three blocks, helped maintain their advantage. Ebel contributed significantly in the closing minutes, including a fast break layup at 1:47, securing Hamline's 60-52 victory.
Vaidya scored 17 points, converting all three of his 3-point attempts. Wall-Atim added 12 points while collecting four rebounds. Ebel recorded nine rebounds and contributed nine points.
Dane DeDominces made two blocks and grabbed six rebounds.
The Pipers will play one last non-conference match up before the Thanksgiving break, taking on UW-Stout on Tuesday, November 25 at home with tipoff at 7:30 PM!
