Pipers Improve to 7-2 with Victory Over Saint Mary's

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (7-2, 2-1 MIAC) secured a decisive 79-52 victory over Saint Mary's University of Minnesota (0-10, 0-3 MIAC) on Wednesday night at Hutton Arena. The Pipers forced 20 turnovers and scored 26 points off those turnovers to dominate the matchup.

The first half began with Saint Mary's taking an early lead after a layup by Sawyer Markham at the 19:00 mark. Hamline quickly responded, with Ethan Wall-Atim contributing a layup and free throws to propel the team ahead. Brendan Ebel led Hamline's offense with two 3-pointers and multiple assists, helping the home team establish a 19-point run midway through the half. By the end of the first half, the Pipers held a 48-30 advantage, bolstered by strong defensive play and points in the paint.

Raoul Vaidya and Ebel led a strong second-half performance for the Pipers, contributing key points and defensive plays. Ebel's steal and subsequent dunk at 16:40 helped maintain momentum, while Vaidya's jumper at 15:57 extended the lead. Hamline capitalized on turnovers, with Dane DeDominces scoring consecutive fast-break layups to further widen the gap to 67-45 by 8:51. Saint Mary's struggled to find rhythm despite Jackson Harvey's efforts, including a layup at 14:26 and a three-pointer at 15:09. Colton Demarais sealed the home team's commanding 79-52 victory with a three-pointer in the final seconds.

Ebel led the Pipers with 23 points, making 9 of 12 field goals, and contributed five steals and five assists. Vaidya added 15 points, converting 3 of 4 three-point attempts.
