SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (8-2, 2-1 MIAC) secured a decisive 67-56 victory over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (3-6, 0-0 WIAC) on Saturday night at Hutton Arena. The Pipers capitalized on turnovers, scoring 26 points off the Falcons' 18 turnovers.
Hamline opened the game strong, with
Raoul Vaidya sinking a 3-pointer assisted by
Dane DeDominces at 18:55 to take an early lead. Despite Micah Thompson scoring first with a layup for the Falcons, Hamline responded with effective defense, including blocks by
Ethan Wall-Atim and DeDominces. Vaidya continued to excel, scoring a total of 13 points in the half, including another 3-pointer at 1:22.
Brendan Ebel added to Pipers' momentum with a fast-break dunk at the 5:00 mark. Hamline capitalized on turnovers and fast-break opportunities, closing the first half with a 35-26 advantage.
Hamline established control early in the second half, with Ebel and Wall-Atim contributing key layups to help extend their lead. Wall-Atim was particularly effective, scoring multiple times in the paint and adding a steal and block to his performance. UW-River Falls tried to respond with Gavin Ralph and Jeremy Wanguhu hitting shots, but they struggled to close the gap. Despite a late push from the visitors, the Pipers maintained their advantage, closing the half with a 67-56 victory.
Vaidya scored 18 points, including three 3-pointers, and added two assists. Wall-Atim contributed 12 points, securing seven rebounds and blocking two shots. Ebel tallied 15 points, collected five rebounds, and recorded three steals.
Braedy Laliberte finished with six points and three steals.
The Pipers will be back in action after the holiday break, when they travel to Oregon for a team trip to play two games out west, George Fox on Dec. 29 and Pacific on Dec. 30.
