ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (3-7-0) fell to Aurora University (10-2-0), 5–3, at their home venue on Saturday. Despite a strong second-period performance where Hamline scored twice and converted on a power play, Aurora's three-goal second period secured their victory.

The first period began with the Pipers gaining an early advantage just 11 seconds in, as
Nikolai Dulak scored the opening goal with assists from
Jacob Hicks and
Jack Lambert. Hamline maintained pressure throughout the period, winning most of the faceoffs and creating several scoring opportunities, although Aurora's Matt O'Donnell made key saves to keep the score close. Aurora had a chance to capitalize on a power play following a tripping penalty on Dulak, but Hamline's defense held firm with
Jake Turek making multiple saves. The period ended with Hamline leading 1-0, despite Aurora's late power play opportunity after
Joe Greniuk's hooking penalty.
Aurora evened up the scored in the second period with a short-handed goal by Lukas Sedlacek at 19:05, assisted by Jackson Hay. The Pipers quickly responded on the power play, with
Brock Carls scoring at 13:48, assisted by
Will Matzke and
Tristen May-Robinson. Dom Thomas added to Hamline's advantage with an even-strength goal at 12:27, assisted by
Kyle Mortenson. However, Aurora's Roc Truman and Chayce Schmidt scored at 8:55 and 3:53, respectively, to level the score at 3–3 by the end of the period.
Aurora secured a victory against Hamline with decisive play in the third period. Hassan Akl broke the tie at 16:28 with a goal, assisted by Jackson Hay, to put Aurora up 4–3. Despite Hamline's efforts, including multiple shots saved by Matt O'Donnell, Aurora maintained their lead. Jaden Davis sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 00:26, assisted by Lukas Sedlacek and Roc Truman, leading to a final score of 5–3 in favor of Aurora.
Dulak scored one goal and won six faceoffs, contributing to his point total with a solid 46% faceoff percentage. Carls added a power-play goal while recording three shots. Thomas also found the back of the net, tallying three shots to help his team offensively.
Calvin Knight excelled in the faceoff circle, winning 70% of his draws.
The Pipers will be back after the holiday break, where they will faceoff against Concordia Wisconsin on the road on January 2nd and 3rd.
