Pipers Fall to Concordia Wisconsin 5-2

MEQUON, Wis. — The Hamline Pipers (3-8-0) fell to Concordia University Wisconsin (6-7-0), 5-2, on Friday night. The Pipers scored twice in the second period, including a power-play goal, but were unable to overcome a three-goal deficit from the first period.

The first period began with Hamline winning the opening faceoff, but Concordia Wisconsin quickly established momentum. Elowan Orme-Lynch opened the scoring at 12:40 with a goal assisted by Matteo Orme-Lynch and Sawyer Wirsing, putting Concordia Wisconsin ahead. Shortly after, Alex Ochitwa extended the lead to 2–0 at 11:57, with an assist from Riley Klugerman. Concordia Wisconsin capitalized on a power play late in the period when Levi Carter scored at 1:41, assisted by Jack Guvenal and Derek Humphreys, to close the period with a 3–0 advantage.

In the second period, Concordia Wisconsin extended their lead with an unassisted goal by Humphreys at 10:28, marking his seventh of the season. The Pipers responded with two goals to cut the deficit. Owen Van Tassel scored his first goal of the season at 5:26, unassisted. Later, Cam VanSickle capitalized on a power play with assistance from Jack Lambert and Nicolas Haviar, narrowing the score to 4–2 at 54 seconds remaining. Goaltender Keaton French played a key role for Hamline, recording multiple saves to keep the game within reach.

Concordia Wisconsin extended their lead in the third period when Elowan Orme-Lynch scored at 13:16, assisted by Matteo Orme-Lynch and Sawyer Wirsing. Hamline faced penalty trouble as Tyler Jordan received a roughing penalty at the same time as the goal, followed by a minor against Concordia Wisconsin's Wirsing. Despite a power-play opportunity following Jack Guvenal's hooking penalty, Hamline was unable to convert. Concordia Wisconsin's Blake Hazelton remained steady in net, turning away multiple attempts from the Pipers, ensuring a 5–2 victory.

Van Tassel scored one goal and added a blocked shot. VanSickle notched a power-play goal and registered five shots on goal. Calvin Knight demonstrated faceoff effectiveness, finishing 12 for 16 at the faceoff dot.
