DE PERE, WIS.—The Hamline University men's tennis team opened the 2025 portion of their schedule with a 5-2 victory at St. Norbert on Friday afternoon.
The Pipers improve to 1-2, while the Green Knights fall to 0-1.
"Dominant showing for the men in doubles today and then some dog fight singles matches to give us a 5-2 victory," said Pipers head coach Spencer Jones. "First college wins for Matthew George. Great first day of our spring season."

The Pipers swept doubles courtesy of Rumeal Setts/Elijah Krause 6-3 at No. 1, Tyler Rousslang/Cooper Johnson 6-0 at No. 2, and Brendon Sebring/Matthew George 6-1 at No. 3.
The bottom four singles matches resulted in victories, but it didn't come without a fight in the top-two matches where Setts and Rousslang dropped tiebreakers.
Elijah Krause was victorious 7-5, 7-6 at No. 3, while Cooper Johnson won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4. The No. 5 slot resulted in a 6-3, 6-0 win for Brendon Sebring. Matthew George prevailed at No. 6 by a 6-4, 6-1 score.
The Pipers will face Augustana (Ill.) in a neutral-site match in De Pere, Wisconsin tomorrow, Saturday, February 8 at 11:30 a.m.
