ROCK ISLAND, ILL.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team opened their 2025 season with a 12-11 loss to Augustana (Ill.) in a non-conference game in Rock Island, Illinois.
The Pipers begin their season 0-1, while the Vikings improve to 2-1.

Freshmen Reagan Zywicki and Lauren Moorhouse each registered a hat trick in their first collegiate games for the Pipers. Zywicki's first collegiate goal with 1:07 left in the second quarter gave Hamline their first lead of the game at 6-5, while her third tally with 5:01 remaining in the third frame gave her team their largest lead of the game at 10-6.
This ignited a Vikings squad that closed the third quarter with a 7-0 advantage in shots, and a 17-9 edge for the remainder of the game. Madison Langewisch, who notched five goals in the game, tallied three in Augustana's 6-1 run within the final 18:00 that sealed them a 12-11 victory.
Hamline had the upperhand in shots (39-29), draw controls (15-11), successful clears (19-16), and caused turnovers (16-14).
Zywicki finished with three goals and two assists for five points, while Nicole Phillips netted two goals along with two assists for four points. Moorhouse netted three goals, while Sophia Warner contributed two for the Pipers. Kayli Starkey, who fired a team-high eight shots, had one goal and one assist.
Lola Brouwer made nine saves in net for the Pipers, while her counterpart Dylon Karjalahi came through with 21 stops for the Vikings.
Hamline will travel to Beloit on Saturday, March 8. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
