MADISON, WIS.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team began their three-game Wisconsin Spring Break trip with a Monday-afternoon bout at Edgewood. The Pipers had the upper hand in ground balls 27-23, but their 15-of-28 clear percentage was too much to overcome in an 18-11 loss to the Eagles.
The Pipers fall to 0-4, while the Eagles improve to 1-4.
Edgewood 18, Hamline 11
Edgewood kicked off the game with a 6-1 run, which put them in the driver's seat from start-to-finish. Hamline was outscored by a slim 12-10 margin from that point forward, thanks to hat tricks from Ema Rehder and Lauren Moorhouse. Rehder added two assists to her stat line en route to a five-point outing, while Moorhouse had a team-leading six draw controls. Nicole Phillips contributed two goals, one assist, three draw controls, and two ground balls. Avery Wilson returned from injury with one goal and two assists, while Sophia Warner's two assists rounds out the multi-point Pipers.Â
The Eagles were led by Emma Raupp, who notched a game-high seven goals and eight points, as well as nine draw controls. She got plenty of support from the defense, who accumulated 14 caused turnovers and 23 ground balls. Christine Eloe had 10 of those ground balls, as well as four caused turnovers.Â
Edgewood outshot Hamline 37-21.
Lola Brouwer made 11 saves in net for the Pipers, while Zoee Pond stopped six shots for the Eagles.
Hamline will travel to Marian (Wis.) on Wednesday, March 19. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
