ORLANDO, FLA.—The Hamline University women's tennis team prevailed with a 5-2 victory over Colby-Sawyer in their final match of spring break in Orlando, Florida on Friday.
The Pipers improve to 7-5 this season.
"Great win for the Hamline women to move their season record up to 7-5," said Pipers head tennis coach Spencer Jones. "We pulled out two super close third-set tie brakes and squeaked out three doubles wins. Terrific undefeated trip for the women."
Hamline 5, Colby-Sawyer 2
The doubles point belonged to Hamline courtesy of a 6-4 win from Vanessa Pham/Cora Andersen at No. 1, a 6-4 decision for Elanna Kohner/Christine Muller at No. 2, and a 7-6 victory from Emily Dreger/Chloe Reyes at No. 3.
Pham carried that momentum into singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot. Muller took care of business 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 at No. 4. Dreger was victorious by a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 score at No. 5, while Reyes won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
The Pipers will travel to Saint Mary's (Minn.) on Saturday, March 29 for a 1:30 p.m. match.
