SAINT PAUL, MN – Hamline football faced a formidable opponent in their MIAC home opener, falling 58-0 to the #4 ranked Saint John's Johnnies on a beautiful day in Saint Paul.
The Johnnies' offense was explosive from the start, scoring the game's first 20 points and finishing with 452 passing yards. Despite the lopsided score, the Pipers showed flashes of proficiency. Receivers D'Nari Adams and Dawson Schaffer were key targets, with Adams leading the team with six catches for 65 yards, and Schaffer adding five catches for 61 yards.
On the defensive side, senior Erik Aune anchored the unit with a team-high five total tackles.
Hamline will have another tough test next week when they return to Klas Field to face off against #13 ranked Bethel in another high-level MIAC matchup.
